“Saw MS Dhoni biting his nails”- Navjot Singh Sidhu’s story from CSK vs RCB sends shockwaves

Former CSK captain MS Dhoni was brutally trolled by the commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu during the match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Chepauk.

After the fall of CSK’s sixth wicket, MS Dhoni was expected to step in, but the management decided to send Ravichandran Ashwin over him. When Ashwin and Jadeja were batting at the crease, Dhoni seemed to be waiting for his turn to bat.

According to the commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu, Dhoni was seen to be biting his nails in the dressing room, but still did not come to bat. It is to be noted that Dhoni batted at No. 9, a decision that didn’t go down well with several cricket experts.

“I saw (MS) Dhoni biting his nails a few moments ago. So, there is some tension (about the match). We thought about Dhoni playing at least five overs,” Sidhu said during the commentary.

Dhoni finally arrived at the crease in the 16th over after the dismissal of Ravichandran Ashwin. While he was unable to take CSK closer to the win, he hit a few lusty blows to entertain the crowd at Chepauk.

MS Dhoni’s batting spot under scanner

MS Dhoni batted at No. 9 in the batting order. The decision to make him bat lower down the order came under a lot of scrutiny as it dented CSK’s hopes of making a match out of it. Ravichandran Ashwin batted above him and hardly made an impact.

By the time Dhoni arrived at the crease, the match had almost gone from CSK’s grasp. Known for his finishing skills, Dhoni hit a few lusty blows towards the end to finish on 30 off 16 balls.

He hit two fours off the penultimate over of the match, bowled by the pacer Josh Hazlewood, and then hit two sixes and a four off the left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya in the final over of the match.

With a lot of matches still remaining in the tournament, CSK and their fans will hope for Dhoni to make a far bigger impact in the game. His experience in a pressure situation can prove to be crucial for his team in big games ahead.

RCB register a thumping win

While MS Dhoni’s batting position was one of the biggest questions during the game, RCB made full use of these mistakes and registered their second successive win of the season to move to the top of the points table.

Royal Challengers batted first and scored a competitive 196-7 on a tricky surface. Skipper Rajat Patidar led from the front and slammed 51 off just 32 balls. The top three in the batting order, Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, and Devdutt Padikkal, all made vital contributions.

In reply, CSK were never ahead in the run chase as RCB’s bowlers were too good on the day. Hazlewood picked up wickets with the new ball, and he received good support from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal.

Spinners Liam Livingstone and Suyash Sharma also bowled well as RCB won the match by 50 runs. It was RCB’s first win at Chepauk since 2008.
