The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is all set to receive a major morale boost, as Proteas legend AB de Villiers has arrived in India to support his former franchise ahead of their crucial IPL 2024 eliminator match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
This high-stakes clash between the RCB and RR is scheduled for May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and the winner of the eliminator will advance to Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2024 and will face the loser of Qualifier 1 between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
As the IPL 2024 Playoffs are set to begin on May 21 with Qualifier 1 in Ahmedabad, AB de Villiers shared his predictions for the mega final, which will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 26.
AB de Villiers predicts RCB vs KKR Final for IPL 2024
He predicted a final showdown between RCB and KKR, as he believes that these are the most deserving teams based on their current form and overall performance this season. The former RCB batter also expressed his admiration for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as well, especially given the presence of several South African players in the team.
But De Villiers ultimately picked KKR and RCB as his finalists given Bengaluru’s current form and Kolkata’s consistent performance throughout the season. The South African legend further praised the RCB for their current momentum, describing them as the in-form team of the tournament at the moment.
De Villiers further noted that KKR might have an edge over the RCB due to the favorable conditions for their spinners in Chennai. However, he showed confidence in RCB’s aggression and desire, led by Virat Kohli, to compete with KKR’s spin attack in the final in Chennai.

AB de Villiers said on his YouTube Channel: “One more RCB versus SRH or RCB versus KKR. I think RCB and KKR will play the final. That doesn’t mean that’s what I want to happen. I enjoy the players of SRH more because there’s a lot of South Africans there, obviously. But I do feel the inform team right now is RCB.
And I feel the best team of the tournament has been KKR. So fair reflection would be KKR and RCB in the final. It will be played in Chennai. So, I think advantage KKR if it happens that way because of the spinners, but Virat Kohli is there. There’s aggression, there’s desire.”

He also shared a strong message for the RCB ahead of the IPL 2024 playoffs. De Villiers urged the RCB team to adopt a fierce and aggressive attitude on the field. He believes that such aggression is key for RCB to dominate their opponents in the final round of the tournament.
The former South African skipper advised the RCB players to showcase their aggression not just with their game but also through their demeanor and body language to intimidate the opposition, as everyone is worried about them.
