Former India National Cricket Team player Sanjay Manjrekar lauded MS Dhoni for changing the way Team India played cricket. He said that the former skipper of the team was the right kind of guy to lead the team when the transition took place.
MS Dhoni is credited highly for changing Indian cricket. Under his leadership, the team became one of the dominating forces both at home as well as overseas conditions. Under his leadership, the team reached great heights and did some incredible things.
MS Dhoni played a great role in shaping up the youngsters. After the seniors Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid took an exit, the keeper-batter led the young team pretty well and ensured that the team went through a smooth transition under his leadership.
MS Dhoni is often credited for giving Indian cricket the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and others. The way he backed the young players and gave them confidence is one of the main reasons why the above-mentioned players are the superstars in the world of cricket currently.

Sanjay Manjrekar hailed MS Dhoni for changing Indian cricket, saying that the keeper-batter was a facilitator when the transition happened. Speaking on the SportifyWithPRG YouTube channel, he explained:
“He changed the way India played cricket, that transition happened where Dhoni was a facilitator. He wanted the team to win, India started chasing better in limited-overs cricket … just the right kind of guy at that time.”
Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the India National Cricket Team won all the ICC trophies associated with the white-ball. He led India to titles in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cups, and the 2013 Champions Trophy and also made the team. No.1 in Test cricket.

Sanjay Manjrekar also hailed Sachin Tendulkar as the most talented cricketer he had ever seen. He highlighted how the batting great at the age of 16 got used to the highest level is just incredible. Speaking about the same, he explained:
“At 16, a guy who just took a couple of months to get used to the highest level is just incredible. And very soon, they started dominating within one or two years and became a genuine 16-year-old. Nobody comes close when it comes to sheer talent.”
This series might just be a little more competitive than the last two tours – Sanjay Manjrekar on Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25
Sanjay Manjrekar also shared his verdict about the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He said that the series will be more competitive than the last two tours. He feels that the Indian batting will decide the fate of the series. He explained:
“This series might just be a little more competitive than the last two tours, where Indian cricket reached a new high when they beat Australia. The Indian batting will, I think, decide the fate of the series.”
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will start on 22nd November in Perth with the remaining four matches to be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
