Las Vegas, NV – Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida will play host to the Grade 2 Royal Delta Stakes (formerly the Sabin Stakes) this Saturday, March 21. A purse of $200,000 will be on the line for a group of fillies and mares four years old and upward willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Gulfstream’s dirt track.
Seven older females will line up in the Royal Delta Stakes – race 10 on Gulfstream’s Saturday card. Post time is 5:30 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all seven entries for this Grade 2 stakes.
House Rules – enters on a two race win streak – the Grade 3 Rampart Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths February 21 and the minor Bal Harbour Handicap by nine lengths January 2 – both results on this track. She also had runner-up finishes here at this time last year – the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes and the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks. House Rules has two wins and two seconds in her last four starts on this track and has won three of her last four starts overall. Javier Castellano will guide House Rules from post 6 Saturday as she looks to keep her good run going on this very track – although she does her best work around one turn.
Molly Morgan – multiple graded stakes winner – Dale Romans pupil has placed in her last five starts – two wins, a second and two third place finishes. She is coming off a third behind Don’t Tell Sophia in the Grade 2 Falls City Handicap at Churchill Downs November 27 which followed a win in the Grade 2 Chilukki Stakes on that same track November 1, a third in the Grade 1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes at Keeneland in October, a second in the listed Locust Grove Stakes in September and a win in the Grade 3 Gardenia Stakes at Ellis Park in August. She also won the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis Handicap last June. Molly Morgan has seven wins, four seconds and seven third place finishes in 27 career starts and enters in the best form of her career. Corey Lanerie will attempt to keep the upward trend going aboard the co-highweight from the outside post Saturday.
Sheer Drama – won the minor Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes at Laurel Park in September after a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga in August. She enters this week on the heels of good runner-up finishes – in the Grade 3 Rampart Stakes here February 21 and the Florida Sunshine Millions Distaff in January. She also had a ninth in the minor H.B.P.A Stakes at Presque Isle Downs September 25 sandwiched in there. Sheer Drama has 14 career starts overall with three wins, six seconds and a third place finish and will look for her first graded stakes score with Joe Bravo in the saddle from post 3.

Tiz Windy – Carl Nafzger trained mare has four wins and a third place finish in her last seven starts overall – the best of which was a win in the Grade 2 Indiana Oaks in October. The other wins were Allowance Optional Claiming scores. Last time out was a fifth behind Molly Morgan in the Grade 2 Falls City Handicap. Tiz Windy has been competitive the last year and hopes to be again Saturday when she leaves from post 2 with Julien Leparoux aboard the co-highweight.
Swinger’s Party – Martin Wolfson trained mare has 15 career starts with four wins, two seconds and a third place finish. She won the Millions Distaff Preview Stakes at Gulfstream Park West in November and went on to a fifth in the Florida Sunshine Millions Distaff and an OK third last time out in the minor Wayward Lass Stakes at Tampa Bay February 14. She finished seventh in the Grade 3 Shuvee Handicap in July and second in the minor Nancy’s Glitter Handicap at Calder in June as well. Swinger’s Party has been OK the last nine months and has placed in two of her last three starts. John Velazquez rides from the rail Saturday.
Flores Island – has 15 career starts for trainer Martin Wolfson with three wins, six seconds and two third place finishes. She enters off a second in the minor Maryland Racing Media Stakes at Laurel Park February 14 which followed a fourth in the listed Miami Shores Handicap in January and a seventh in the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Handicap at Belmont Park in October. She looks for her first stakes score Saturday from post 5 with Edgard Zayas in the irons.
Oasis At Midnight – is coming off a fourth place finish in the Grade 3 Rampart Stakes here February 21 after a second in a Starter Optional Claiming January 9 and a year away from racing. She did win two Allowance Optional Claiming races in 2014 but has failed to place in three career graded stakes races. Jesus Rios rides this longshot from gate 4 Saturday.
