Rohit Sharma snubbed as Dinesh Karthik picks best all-format batsman in the world at present

Former India batsman Dinesh Karthik has revealed his choice for the best all-format batsman in the world at present. The former wicketkeeper-batsman, however, has snubbed the Indian stars and has picked an Australian as the best all-format player in the world.

In recent years, several players from India have done well across formats. One of them is certainly captain Rohit Sharma. The right-handed batsman starred with the bat in the ODI World Cup last year, finishing the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer and leading the team to the final.

In this year’s T20 World Cup, he was India’s highest run-scorer as the Men in Blue won the tournament after 17 years. His performance in the Test is equally impressive. Earlier this year, Rohit hit two centuries during the home series against England.

Dinesh Karthik reveals his choice:

Dinesh Karthik, however, snubbed Rohit as well as a few other names such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Joe Root, Virat Kohli, and others as he picked Travis Head. The former cricketer-turned-commentator hailed Head as the best player across formats at the moment.

“Have to say Travis Head is right in front of the pack. Yashasvi Jaiswal has batted really well; he hasn’t got too much of an opportunity in ODI cricket, so Travis Head at this moment I would say,” Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz’s HeyCB with DK show when asked about the best all-format batter in world cricket at present.

Well, not many would disagree with Dinesh Karthik’s choice. Head has indeed been one of the best if not the best batter across formats in recent times. The left-handed batsman smashed a stunning century in the ODI World Cup final last year, helping Australia beat India.

Before that, he had also scored a century in the World Test Championship final where Australia had defeated India. Earlier this year, he enjoyed a stunning campaign in the IPL, scoring 567 runs in 15 games. Head recently starred with the bat during the white-ball series against Scotland and England.

After scoring a fifty in the T20I series against Scotland, he scored another fifty against England in the T20Is. In the subsequent ODI series, Head played a stunning knock of 154 runs. He will be seen in action next when Australia host Pakistan for three ODIs and as many T20Is.
