The Men in Blue won the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohitโs captaincy. Team India ended an 11-year ICC trophy drought. Before that, they secured the Champions Trophy in 2013 by defeating England under legendary MS Dhoni. Rohit Sharma was part of the Indian squad in that Champions Trophy win.
The last Champions Trophy was played in 2017 when Pakistan won their first title in tournament history. The Men in Green, led by Sarfraz Ahmed, defeated Team India by 180 runs in the final at The Oval. Pakistan set a massive target of 339 runs and bowled out the neighboring nation for 158 to secure the trophy.
There Is Never Going To Be Complacency – Rohit Sharma
After India lost the ODI series to Sri Lanka, Rohit stated that there was no complacency under his leadership. He emphasized that there is no room for complacency while playing for India. Rohit also dismissed concerns about the teamโs struggle against spin.
Rohit was the top scorer in the recent series against Sri Lanka. The right-handed batter scored 157 runs at an average of 52.33 and a strike rate of 141.44, including two half-centuries. However, other batters did not provide adequate support. The India team failed to chase the target in all three matches.
The 37-year-old batter will now shift his focus to Test cricket. The Indian team will next play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh next month. They will then host a three-match Test series against New Zealand in October. The red-ball season will conclude with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
