India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma didn’t have the kind of day he would’ve wanted on Day 2 of the ongoing Test against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The match between the teams is taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Rohit Sharma had a torrid day with the bat as well as the captain and fielder the Day 2 of the ongoing Test. Everything seemed to be tough for him as India National Cricket Team batters had the worst possible outing with the bat, getting all out for just 46 runs and inside two sessions.
After that, India National Cricket Team bowlers tried hard with the ball but they couldn’t take early wickets. New Zealand batters batted with a positive mindset and put the team under pressure. The hosts also were poor on the field as they dropped quite a few catches and even skipper Rohit Sharma was the main culprit behind it.
Rohit Sharma dropped a dolly to give a reprieve to Will Young. It was on the last ball of the 35th over when Ravindra Jadeja bowled a tossed-up full-on off-stump. He invited the drive, and the batter went hard at it, and the ball took the thick outside edge.
The ball flew to Rohit Sharma’s right in the slips. The India National Cricket Team skipper reacted quickly enough and leaped. He got both hands to it but it didn’t stick as the ball went out of his hands quickly to give life to New Zealand National Cricket Team batter Will Young.

However, thankfully for Rohit Sharma, Will Young didn’t cost India much. Ravindra Jadeja removed the batter in his next innings, and it was a great relief for the skipper.
Ravindra Jadeja bowled full delivery on off-stump and gave the batter a lot of air. Will Young leaned in looking to sweep, and the ball dipped on him. He didn’t reach the pitch of it and tried to adjust and went through with the sweep; he could only manage a top edge that lobbed up towards fine-leg, where Kuldeep took it safely.
India were outplayed on Day 2
Coming to the match, India had a horrible outing with the bat in the first innings. New Zealand pacers made full use of the overcast conditions and troubled batters. Indian wickets fell like a pack of cards as Matt Henry (5/15) and William ORourke (4/22) were all over the host.
Rishabh Pant (20) top-scored for India as they got all out for 46, which was the lowest ever in Asia. New Zealand had a solid start with the bat as Devon Conway (91) and Tom Latham (15) batted positively. The duo added 67 runs for the opening stand before Young (33) joined Conway.
The two stitched 75 runs for the second wicket and put the hosts under pressure. After that, Rachin Ravindra (22*) and Daryl Mitchell (14*) took the stage and ended the day on high for New Zealand. At stumps on Day two, the visitors were 180 for three and had a lead of 134 runs.
