Rohit Sharma provides colossal update on Rishabh Pant after keeper injures his knee

India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma provided an update about Rishabh Pant, who got injured on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The game between the teams is underway at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh faced a massive injury scare on Day 2 of the ongoing Test against New Zealand. The batter looked in immense pain and was taken off the field, with Dhruv Jurel rushing to the ground to take the keeping role for the team for the remainder of the day.

Rishabh Pant got injured during New Zealand’s innings when he coped with a blow on his knee while keeping. He attempted to collect a delivery in the 37th over but was hit badly and fell immediately on the ground, with India’s physio rushing out on the field to attend to him.

Rishabh couldn’t walk properly after that blow as he was taken off the field. He didn’t return to the field then as he was deemed unfit to take part in the day further. There wasn’t any clarity about the seriousness of the injury of the keeper-batter, and it made many worried.

But now, skipper Rohit Sharma provided a fitness update about the Rishabh Pant. He said that the keeper-batter got swelling on the knee and confirmed that it was the same knee on which he got surgery after his accident.

India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma, however, was optimistic about Rishabh Pant getting fit for the match. He said that they didn’t want to take the risk; hence, the keeper-batter didn’t come to play again. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“Unfortunately, the ball hit straight on his kneecap, the same leg which he’s done a surgery on. So he has got a little bit of swelling on it. It’s tender at this point in time, so it is a precautionary measure. That was the reason for him to go inside. Hopefully, he can recover.”
