“Kitna wo lagta hai ye jeetne ke liye” – Rohit Sharma
In the same press conference, Rohit Sharma spoke about the importance of this win. He claimed that the Champions Trophy win might not be equal to a World Cup win but it is no less.
“I had said earlier that the 50-over World Cup is like the real World Cup. But this trophy is no less. Kitna wo lagta hai ye jeetne ke liye (You ask me what it takes to win this trophy). A trophy is a trophy. You feel proud by winning any final,” Rohit said.

The Champions Trophy is a short tournament between the top eight teams of the world. It is a highly competitive tournament where even a single defeat can affect the team’s chances. The tournament is like a mini World Cup and produces highly competitive games.
The Champions Trophy was held after a gap of eight years. The last time it took place was in 2017 when Pakistan defeated India in the final at The Oval, London to win the title. However, India finally got their hands on the trophy by winning it in Dubai.
India’s excellent Champions Trophy campaign
India played five matches in the Champions Trophy 2025 this year and won all of them, which is a remarkable feat in itself. Despite being put to the test, they replied superbly and played excellently under pressure situations.
They ended the group stage on top by winning all three matches against Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand. Afterwards, the Men in Blue defeated Australia and New Zealand in the semi-final and the final respectively.
Rohit Sharma batted aggressively at the top throughout the tournament. He gave India good starts but was unable to convert them into big ones.
However, the Indian captain saved his best for the all-important final. Rohit smashed a brilliant 76 off 83 balls and also top-scored in the match. He was adjudged the Player of the Match in the final for his performance.
