Riyan Parag officially appointed captain of this team after return from injury

India National Cricket Team all-rounder Riyan Parag is all set to make a return to cricket after a prolonged injury. As per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, the all-rounder will be making a return through the seventh round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 for his state team Assam.

Riyan Parag will be leading Assam in the game against hosts Saurashtra in Rajkot. The match is all set to take place on January 30th. The all-rounder will be making his return to cricket after October, having last played the game against Bangladesh in what was a T20I fixture.

Riyan Parag’s presence will also be a boost for Assam for the last round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25

Parag, after that game against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, missed the T20I series in South Africa and the ongoing T20I series against England because of a shoulder injury. The batter required surgery for that and he also wasn’t named in the team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Parag playing in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 will be a great boost for him ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He will also be gaining some game time as well, which might be needed in case the India National Cricket Team need him as cover next month for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Parag’s presence will also be a boost for Assam for the last round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. The team is currently stationed at the bottom half of the points table in Elite Group D. They would be hoping that the all-rounder changes their fortunes and helps them win the match.

Riyan Parag has made massive strides in his career of late

Riyan Parag has made massive strides in his career of late. After the IPL 2024, he made his debut for the India National Cricket Team against Zimbabwe in a T20I. He played a decent role for the team with bat and ball, allowing the team to have a proper balance. He also made his debut in ODIs against Sri Lanka.

Riyan Parag had a staggering season last year in the Ranji Trophy. He scored 378 runs in six innings at an average of 75.60 and a strike rate of 113.85. He hit 20 sixes in the season, which was the most by any batter in the last edition of the tournament.

The all-rounder would be keen to make an impact for his team in his comeback match. His good outing will be a great thing for Indian cricket as well as the Rajasthan Royals, where he will be playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
