Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru is currently engaged in a do-or-die clash with Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It is the last league game of the ongoing IPL 2024 for both sides and will decide their fate.
A loss for Royal Challengers Bengaluru will knock them out of the ongoing IPL 2024. Even if they win the game, it won’t be enough if they fail to have a better net run-rate than Chennai Super Kings. The Bengaluru-based outfit not only have to win the game but will also have to win it by a good margin to have a better net run rate.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings will be through if they manage to win the game. Even if they lose the game, they can go to the next round if their net run rate does not take a beating. The game started on a good note for the Chennai-based outfit as they won the toss and opted to bowl first.
RCB, however, are off to a good start with the bat. At the time of writing this report, they were on 31 for o after 3 overs before rain halted the game. Before the rain arrived, Virat Kohli left du Plessis stunned with a six.
It was the first ball of the third over and Virat Kohli was facing Tushar Deshpande. It was a back-of-length delivery from the Chennai pacer and Kohli smashed it towards long leg. The ball went a long way as it went on to hit the roof of the stadium. Du Plessis’ reaction after the shot said it all as the RCB skipper was left with his mouth open.
