Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli was involved in a hilarious chat with Mr Nags ahead of the game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. However, the conversation also saw Kohli taking a subtle dig at Sunil Gavaskar over the saga between the duo.
Virat Kohli earlier in the IPL 2024 took a brutal jibe at the commentators when he stated that people have problems with his strike rate but added that he isn’t bothered by the outside noise. He added that people who sit in the box and talk about strike rate without being on the pitch aren’t good. He had stated:
“I am not sure if you have not been in that situation yourself, to sit and speak about the game from the box; I don’t think it’s the same thing, so for me, it’s just about doing my job, people can talk about ideas for the game, but for me, it’s kind of a muscle memory now”.
However, this didn’t go well with Sunil Gavaskar as he gave a brutal reply to Virat Kohli. He claimed that he too has played cricket and he speaks about what he sees and doesn’t have agendas. He stated:
“All these guys talk about, ‘Oh, we don’t care about outside noise’. Then why are you replying to any outside noise or whatever it is? We all played a bit of cricket, not a lot of cricket. We don’t have agendas. We speak about what we see. We don’t necessarily have any likes and dislikes. Even if we have likes and dislikes, we speak on what is happening”.
Virat Kohli’s subtle dig at Sunil Gavaskar
Virat Kohli now yet again grabbed the spotlight for his controversy with Sunil Gavaskar. It wasn’t direct but it was a subtle dig by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter to the batting great as the question related to Sunil was asked by Mr Nags.
In an interview, Mr Nags said: “See Virat I want to talk about a friend of yours. Not my friend, but your friend. He said a lot of nice things about you…Sunil.“
However, what caught the attention of many was Virat Kohli’s reaction after he heard the word Sunil. This caught Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter off-guard who came up with a smile and responded “Who?”
However, Mr Nags immediately revealed what was talking about was Sunil Chhetri, who recently announced his retirement from football. This left both Virat Kohli and the host in splits.

Virat Kohli is going through a terrific touch in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. He is currently the Orange Cap holder with 661 runs in IPL 2024. The batter will be next seen against the Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, May 18.
