In the latest development, as per the reports in Fox Cricket, it learned that premier all Ravindra Jadeja faced a fresh injury scare ahead of the Perth Test.
The reports claimed that Ravindra Jadeja suffered a blow while batting in the nets. He was struck in the midriff midway through the session by one of the deliveries which reared sharply. The Southpaw looked in immense pain and was down on the ground.
After getting some treatment, thankfully for the Indian team, Ravindra Jadeja was back on his feet. The all-rounder then batted with great composure and looked in good touch in the entire net session he batted and impressed the coaching staff as well.
Ravindra Jadeja was the last of the Indian players to leave the nets
It is learned that Jadeja was the last of the Indian players to leave the nets. The premier all-rounder was involved in a lengthy chat with coach Gautam Gambhir before he walked out to the dressing room after calling off the net session with the bat ahead of the first game.
Ravindra Jadeja is expected to play a crucial role for the India National Cricket Team in the entire Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The all-rounder possesses a great record in Australian conditions and would be hoping to carry on that and help his team win the series for the third consecutive time down under.
But there have been several reports in Indian media that have claimed that Ravindra Jadeja is unlikely to play the first Test of the series. It is learned that head coach Gautam Gambhir wants Ravichandran Ashwin as the only spinner in the team along with four fast bowlers.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is all set to make his debut
The reports claimed that Nitish Kumar Reddy is all set to make his debut and this makes things tough for Ravindra Jadeja. Gautam Gambhir has backed Ravichandran Ashwin to make a similar kind of impact that Nathan Lyon has been making for Australia in these conditions.
The India playing XI for the first Test against the Australia National Cricket Team almost speaks for itself. With no Rohit Sharma there, it is expected that KL Rahul will be opening the innings for the team along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shubman Gill will also be missing the game due to the finger injury that he sustained during match simulation.
Devdutt Padikkal will be batting at No.3
In this place, Devdutt Padikkal will be batting at No.3. He was recently added to the squad after his heroics for India A. The Indian middle order is likely to feature Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel, who is likely to get preferred over Sarfaraz Khan.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravichandran Ashwin are expected to be two all-rounders in the team. Harshit Rana is also expected to make his debut and accompany stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj in the pace bowling department.
