Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar engage in fun banter during CSK vs MI clash
Deepak Chahar, who was with CSK from 2018 to 2024, was bought by the Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 9.25 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. CSK tried their best to reacquire the pace-bowling all-rounder, but they failed.
Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar started off his campaign with the Mumbai Indians on a high as he did a brilliant job with the bat after the failure of the top and middle order and ensured that his team posted a competitive score of 155/9.
Deepak Chahar smashed 28 runs off 15 balls, with 2 fours and 2 sixes, in the innings against his former team and remained unbeaten till the end.
He was also involved in a hilarious moment with his former teammate Ravindra Jadeja during the 19th over of the innings. On the third ball of the over, Chahar pulled a Khaleel Ahmed delivery towards the deep midwicket for a single.
The ball was grabbed by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who rolled it over in front of him, to challenge Chahar to go for a double. Chahar also jokingly threatened the fielder to take a second run but didn’t go for it as the crowd erupted seeing the banter.

Ambati Rayudu speaks on Deepak Chahar and Mitchell Santner’s move to Mumbai Indians
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the CSK vs MI clash, Ambati Rayudu, who played for both the franchises, talked about switching the teams. He said that he felt quite weird when he moved from Mumbai Indians to Chennai Super Kings.
Rayudu said that Deepak Chahar and Mitchell Santner, who moved from CSK to MI, will also have that weird feeling but clarified that both the teams are quite welcoming. He elaborated:
“It was very very weird for me. First day was quite difficult because the practice was happening at Wankhede. I had to go to the opposition dressing room. I mean, because I was with MI the previous year for 8 years. So, it was very different walking down the other stairs wearing other colour pads when MI was practicing on the side. So, it was quite difficult to handle but Deepak and Santner will feel that now.”
“It was quite warm and welcoming because there were few occasions where we all played critical part, crucial part in the finals where CSK has lost. So, they were happy that few of the guys have come over. So, they don’t have to deal with that kind of a headache anymore. It was quite good and also cultures are quite different. So, it took me a while to adjust to CSK.”
