Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar took blessings at the spiritual Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh ahead of his team’s next match of IPL 2025. Before RCB face-off against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, May 3, Patidar made a quick trip to Tirupati for the special darshan.

Patidar entered the temple during the VIP break alongside teammate Jitesh Sharma.

In a clip posted on Instagram, ‘tirupati_city_of_devotion’ confirmed Patidar had visited Tirumala with special arrangements made for the RCB skipper by the temple officials. The post noted Patidar receiving ‘teertha prasadams at ranganayakula mandapam.’

The cricketer said afterwards that ‘he felt very happy and blessed to see the lord’ as he gears up for RCB’s remaining games.

Appointed captain amidst speculations of RCB’s superstar former skipper Virat Kohli returning to the helm, Patidar has proven to be a successful pick for the leadership role. Under his captaincy, RCB have enjoyed one of their most impressive campaigns, winning 7 of their first 10 matches and taking a giant leap towards securing their play-off berth.

Patidar has played an important part with the bat in his team’s encouraging run by scoring 228 runs at a strike-rate of 147.09.

Patidar led RCB to a fantastic win over the Delhi Capitals in their previous league game in Delhi. Experienced pace duo Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/33) and Josh Hazlewood (2/36) helped RCB restrict the Capitals to just 162/8 in their 20 overs before Kohli’s 51 off 47 and allrounder Krunal Pandya’s courageous 73 not out took the visitors home.

RCB’s next match versus the Super Kings thus presents the side a great opportunity to become the first team to secure the play-offs spot this season, with an eighth win likely to cement their qualification. Their great rivalry with the Super Kings resumes at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where RCB have surprisingly not been at their best.

Patidar’s men will aim to carry their away form to their den as they look to keep the struggling Super Kings down.
