Indian cricket team’s practice sessions will no longer be accessible to the general public for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as the visitors have raised an objection to the arrangement.
Thousands had assembled for the side’s training in Adelaide on Tuesday (December 3) and the players were disturbed by the regular chants and comments during the session.

It is understood that the public, who were assembled in close proximity to the Indian cricket team, heckled the players who were preparing for the pink-ball fixture in Adelaide from Friday (December 6).
There were regular loud chants and comments from the thousands and it didn’t create an ideal atmosphere to train for the visitors who are applying finishing touches before the day-night Test.
The crowd was constantly asking players to hit a boundary or a six and even passed demeaning remarks for players who were dismissed or were beaten during the net sessions. A well placed source informs that it wasn’t ideal to have the crowd so close to the action.

“They were literally next to the nets. (It) Could have been handled better. The regular chants, demeaning remarks, requests for selfies and all don’t help when players are trying to train hard,” said a source close to developments.
Even when the players were walking towards the nets area, there was a heavy crowd surrounding them and the requests for selfies and autographs only grew louder as the session unfolded.
“The session could have been handled much better. It could have been a security situation too because the public was just very close to the players. And the comments and constant slogans of ‘chauka maar’, ‘chakkar maar’, ‘out ho gaya’ are not ideal for practice session,” added the source.
