Yuzvendra Chahal was brutally trolled by his Punjab Kings (PBKS) teammates after the veteran spinner revealed he had taken the bat of legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni.

During a practice session ahead of PBKS‘ away clash with the Super Kings in Chennai on Wednesday, April 30, Chahal took a bat from Dhoni and showed it to his Punjab teammates. The Punjab franchise shared their hilarious reactions via a clip on their Instagram handle.

‘Hey, hey Mahi Bhai’s bat,’ said Chahal in excitement as he showed Dhoni’s willow to the fans in the funny video before entering the PBKS dressing room. The leg-spinner went straight to Punjab’s attacking middle-order star Glenn Maxwell, who asked, ‘Whose bat?’ to which Chahal confirmed it was the CSK skipper’s bat.

Maxwell immediately backed it up with another question, ‘What are you gonna do with it?’ Chahal responded, ‘Me? I will play’. Maxwell also took a jibe at Chahal’s batting abilities by stating, ‘You’ll get subbed out every game’.

Soon, opener Priyansh Arya also joined in the fun by saying, ‘Koi na koi Haryana ka ladka pakka ye bat lega (some player from Haryana will surely take this bat with him).’ Chahal then told the youngster ‘Koi chance hi nahi hai (no chance).’ Notably, Chahal plays for Haryana in domestic cricket.

Over time, Chahal has become one of the funniest characters in the game with his multiple interactions with teammates and opposition players going viral. While a serious cricketer on the field, the 34-year-old carries a jovial avatar off it and continues to bring a smile to the fans’ faces.

Though performing far from his best, Chahal has been crucial in his team’s encouraging run in IPL 2025, taking nine wickets in nine games for the Shreyas Iyer-led side.

Punjab are placed fifth in the tournament standings with 5 wins and 11 points in their nine games, including a no-result in their last match versus the Kolkata Knight Riders due to rain. Iyer’s men need a win against the Super Kings to reemerge into the top 4 and continue pushing towards the play-offs.
