Palm Beach Stakes 2015 at Gulfstream Park

Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes, originally scheduled for February 28, is on tap for Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida on Saturday, March 7. A purse of $150,000 will be on the line for a group of three year olds willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Gulfstream’s turf track.

A field of 11 have been confirmed for the Palm Beach Stakes – race 11 on Gulfstream’s Saturday card. Post time is 5:30 PM. Here is a glimpse into the past performances of all 11 entries for this Grade 3 stakes.

Night Prowler – will race for the fifth time for trainer Chad Brown off a terrific win in the Grade 3 Dania Beach Stakes here January 3, an OK third in the minor Pulpit Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 29 and a maiden score at Belmont Park October 17. He has two wins and two thirds in four career starts – competitive every time out and has already made a name for himself with his terrific stretch runs. Javier Castellano has the mount from post 6.

Dubai Sky – impressive Bill Mott trained colt will try to make it four wins in a row Saturday as he steps into graded stakes company for the first time. Last time out was a win in the minor Kitten’s Joy Stakes on this track January 24 after an Allowance Optional Claiming win and a maiden score in his second career start. John Velazquez has been tabbed with keeping the roll going from post 5.

Croninthebarbarian – Garry Simms pupil has seven career starts with two wins, a second and three third place finishes. He won the minor Kentucky Downs Juvenile in September and went on to a sixth in the Grade 3 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland October 5 and has placed in three starts since. He enters off consecutive third place finishes – behind Dubai Sky in the minor Kitten’s Joy Stakes last time out and behind Night Prowler in the Grade 3 Dania Beach Stakes January 3 – both results on this track to go along with an OK second just ahead of Night Prowler in the minor Pulpit Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 29. Julien Leparoux will try to keep Croninthebarbarian competitive from gate 10.

Decision Day – Josie Carroll trained colt has four career starts and was competitive in his first three – two wins and a second place finish. He made his graded stakes debut on this track January 24 and finished a disappointing eighth in the Grade 2 Holy Bull Stakes after a nice win in the minor Coronation Futurity at Woodbine November 29 and a maiden score in his second career start. Decision Day looks for a bounce back on a different surface Saturday with Luis Contreras in the saddle from the outside post.

Bears Personality – Reade Baker trained colt has six career starts with two wins and a second place finish. He stepped into stakes company for the first time last time out and finished a disappointing ninth in the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs January 31 after a two race win streak – an Allowance December 6 and a maiden score in his fourth career start – both results at Woodbine. Paco Lopez will be in the saddle in Bears Personality’s grass debut. Paco Lopez rides in Bears Personality’s from gate 4.

Divisidero – makes his second career start Saturday for trainer William Bradley off a maiden score in his debut – on this track February 7. He takes the giant step up into stakes company with Rafael Manuel Hernandez in the reins from post 9.

Felifran – Gustavo Delgado trained colt has a win and a pair of fourth place finishes in three career starts and is coming off one of those fourths – behind Dubai Sky in the minor Kitten’s Joy Stakes here January 24. Before that was a Maiden Claiming score at Gulfstream Park West in November. He looks to break through in stakes company for the first time in his graded stakes bow – from post 7 with Jose Lezcano aboard.

El Cumpari – Michael Dilger trained colt won his debut but has failed to place in his other two starts – both stakes races. Last time out was a fifth right behind Felifran in the minor Kitten’s Joy Stakes here January 24 after a ninth in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct November 29. He hasn’t been great lately but hopes to rectify that from post 2 with Irad Ortiz aboard.

Call Me Crazy – will make his seventh career start for trainer Katherine Rivto having posted a win and three second place finishes so far. He finally broke maiden last time out in his sixth career start after three straight runner-up finishes – all MSW races in Florida. Call Me Crazy has been trending upward but could be in tough as he enters stakes company for the first time. Luis Saez has the call from gate 8.

High Noon Rider – George Weaver trained colt has five career starts with a win and two third place finishes. He made his graded stakes debut off a DNF in the Grade 2 Holy Bull Stakes here January 24, an OK third in the minor Remington Springboard Mile December 14 and a maiden score in his third career start. He had looked good before being eased last time out and looks for a bounce back Saturday from the rail with Rajiv Maragh in the irons.

Nutty Futty – Christopher Van Culin trained colt has six career starts with a win and two third place finishes. He enters off a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming, a distant eighth in the Grade 3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park in September and an OK third in the Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga in August. He has decent but and hopes to record his first graded stakes score Saturday from post 3 with Jose Valdivia in the irons.
