India’s Ayush Shetty followed his sensational straight-games win over former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore with another convincing victory on Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the Orleans Masters, a BWF World Tour Super 300 event.
World No. 48 Ayush, the 2023 World Junior Championships bronze medallist, defeated Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan 21-17, 21-17 in the second round. The Indian had stunned third seed Loh 21-17, 21-9 in the opening round to record one of the biggest wins of his career. He will next face either Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke or Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen.
H. S. Prannoy, making his comeback after a long layoff due to illness, went down 21-18, 21-9 to second-seeded Taiwanese player Chun-Yi Lin. Kidambi Srikanth lost 21-11, 21-17 to top-seeded Malaysian and Paris Olympics bronze medallist Lee Zii Jia.

In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde gave walkover to the third-seeded Chinese Taipei pair of Po-Hsuan Yang and Ling Fang Hu.
Later in the day, men’s doubles duo of Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and K. Sai Pratheek faces the fourth-seeded Chinese Taipei pair of Lee Jhe Huei and Yang Po Hsuan.
