Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes comes our way this Saturday, January 2 from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. A group of newly turned three year old fillies will take to Gulfstream’s dirt track and race six furlongs searching for the winner’s portion of the $100,000 purse.
A field of six three year old fillies have been confirmed for the Old Hat Stakes – race 4 on Gulfstream’s busy Saturday schedule. Post time is 1:35 PM. Let’s take a glance into the past performances of all six entries for this intriguing Grade 3 stakes.
Ballet Diva – impressive Stanley Gold trained filly had six career starts at age 2 with four wins and a third place finish. Last time out was a two lengths win in gate-to-wire fashion in the minor House Party Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 28 which followed an uncharacteristic sixth in the minor Florida Sire My Dear Girl Stakes here October 3 (at 1 1/16 miles), a win in the minor Florida Sire Susan’s Girl Stakes on this track September 5, a third in the minor Florida Sire Desert Vixen Stakes here in August and a win in the minor Cassidy Stakes on this track in July. Ballet Diva has been a factor in every race she’s run so far and is expected to be again Saturday from the rail with Jose Carabello in the saddle.
Dad’s Kiddo – Dane Kobiskie trained filly has a win and three runner-up finishes in four career starts. She enters on the heels of consecutive runner-up finishes – an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out on this track December 11 and behind Ballet Diva in the minor House Part Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 28. Those results followed a maiden score at Indiana Grand in May and a runner up finish in her debut. Dad’s Kiddo has been competitive every time out and will be after her first stakes win Saturday – from post 3.
Lucy N Ethel – has two career starts for trainer Ramon Preciado with two wins – both at Parx. Last time out was an incredible 13 length Allowance score December 8 after a maiden win at first asking November 16. She tries to make it a perfect 3-for-3 to start her career when she departs from post 5 with Joshua Navarro in the irons.

My Dear Venezuela – has three career starts for trainer Bruno Tessore with a win and a second place finish. She broke maiden last time out – at Gulfstream Park West November 8 after a runner-up finish on that same track in October and a fifth in her debut. My Dear Venezuela has improved every time put but takes a huge step up in competition Saturday. Emisael Jaramillo has been tabbed to ride from gate 4.
Catira Rock – has eight career starts for trainer Antonio Sano with two wins and two third place finishes. Last time out was a Claiming score on this track December 11 after an ugly tenth in the minor Wait a While Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 28, a third in the minor Juvenile Filly Turf Stakes on that same track November 7 and off-the-board finishes in a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming races this past summer. Catira Rock has been inconsistent but chases her first stakes win from gate 2 Saturday with Edgard Zayas guiding her.
Little Caton – has just two career starts for trainer Carlo Vaccarezza with one runner-up finish to show for it – that coming last time out in a Maiden Claiming race at Gulfstream Park West November 21. She posted a sixth in her debut October 28. Little Caton takes an enormous step up in competition Saturday in less-than-spectacular form. Paco Lopez rides from the outside gate 6.
Race 4 on Gulfstream Park’s Saturday card with a Post Time of 1:35 PM.
