“Glad to meet ex-cricketer & former head coach of Team India, Ravi Shastri, who visited Odisha to attend the MoU signing event between ‘Coaching Beyond’ cricket academy and Cuttack-based MGM School of Sports to establish a high-performance cricket academy. Had a very fruitful discussion on development of world-class cricket infrastructure in Odisha. Thanked him for appreciating the state’s illustrious sporting ecosystem,” wrote Naveen Patnaik on social media.
In a gesture of goodwill, Patnaik also presented Hockey India’s jersey to Shastri, symbolizing the state’s commitment to fostering sporting excellence across various disciplines.
According to a statement from Sports Odisha, the MGM Group has inaugurated a state-of-the-art High-Performance Cricket Academy near Cuttack city, aimed at nurturing cricket talent and promoting a vibrant sporting culture in Odisha.
Named the MGM School of Sports, the academy will prioritize high-performance training for up to 50 young male cricketers through a subsidized program, with plans to expand the initiative to include female cricketers in the future. Additionally, the academy will offer daily coaching programs for all age groups, further contributing to the development of cricket in the state.
