Novak Djokovic is set to return to the Madrid Open after missing the last two editions, the tournament organisers confirmed on Tuesday.
It will be the 37-year-old’s 13th appearance in Madrid, having first competed there in 2006. Since then, he has claimed the trophy thrice (2011, 2016, 2019), amassing an impressive 30-9 record at the tournament.
His last appearance was in 2022, where he lost to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal. Alcaraz went onto beat Alexander Zverev in the final and lead the title.
