Najmul Hossain Shanto demands action from BCB after humiliation in India

India vs Bangladesh 3rd T20I Highlights

Bangladesh lost the toss and they were invited to bowl first. The bowlers of the visiting team were not ready for what was about to happen as they were absolutely annihilated by the Indian batting unit.

No Bangladesh bowler was able to trouble Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag as the hosts registered a historic 297-run total.

Samson (111) and Suryakumar (75) did the most of the destruction with their outstanding 173-run stand while the rest of the damage was done by Hardik (47) and Parag (34) as they added 70 runs together.

Every Bangladesh bowler leaked runs at an economy of over 11 and Tanzim Hasan Sakib was the top wicket-taker as he dismissed three batters.

Chasing the target, Bangladesh batters looked miserable and didn’t give themselves a chance to even breach the 200 score. Only two batters batted with a strike rate of 150 or more as the Bangla Tigers got restricted to 164/7.

Towhid Hridoy scored 63 runs and was unbeaten while Litton Das smashed 42 runs. However, other than the duo, no batter could get going and they lost the match by 133 runs.

We Didn’t Execute Our Plans As A Batting Group In All The Three Matches – Najmul Hossain Shanto Said After The Match

Speaking after the match, the Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto admitted that they didn’t execute their plans well in the batting department and bowling-wise only did well few times. Najmul Hossain Shanto said:

“We didn’t play our best cricket. We didn’t execute our plans as a batting group in all the three matches. Bowling-wise, couple of overs we bowled well in some of the matches. Today all the bowlers didn’t bowl well.”

Najmul Hossain Shanto also tried to motivate his teammates, saying that they need to have belief in themselves and highlighted the need for having better pitches in Bangladesh. He also highlighted a few positives from the series. Najmul Hossain Shanto said:

“It is very important that we believe in ourselves that we can compete against any team. We have to change a lot of things, especially the home wicket. Players need to take responsibilities. (Positives) The way Hridoy batted today was impressive. I really like all the seamers, they tried to execute their plans. The top-order batsmen need to improve a lot.”

How Did Bangladesh Perform In Previous T20I Against India?

Bangladesh’s bowlers had a tough outing in the 2nd T20I, conceding 221 runs. Taskin Ahmed was the standout performer, as he bowled an economical spell of conceding just 16 runs while picking up two wickets.

The left-arm-pacer Mustafizur Rahman also chipped in with 2 wickets but gave away 36 runs in his 4 overs. Tanzim Hasan Sakib struggled to contain the Indian batters, leaking 50 runs in his full quota, despite claiming 2 wickets. Rishad Hossain had a similar story, conceding 55 runs while picking up 3 wickets. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, meanwhile, for 46 runs in just 3 overs.

Chasing a huge target of 222, Bangladesh’s batting lineup faltered under pressure. Parvez Hossain Emon (16 off 12) and Litton Das (14 off 11) started positively but couldn’t build on the starts they got.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (11 off 7) and Towhid Hridoy (2 off 6) couldn’t make an impact, leaving Bangladesh in trouble early on.

Mahmudullah provided some hope with a valiant 41 off 39, hitting three sixes, but lacked support from the other end. Mehidy Hasan Miraz (16 off 16) and the rest of the lower order couldn’t turn the tide as wickets kept tumbling. In the end, Bangladesh were restricted to 135/9, losing by 86 runs.
