NEW DELHI: Former Indian pacer Munaf Patel on Tuesday joined the Delhi Capitals as their new bowling coach for the next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), bringing valuable experience and insights to the franchise.
DC retained Abhishek Porel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel, and will now enter the IPL 2025 mega auction, scheduled to be held on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a good purse of Rs 73 crore.
Munaf, who played 13 Tests, 70 ODIs and three T20Is for India between 2006 and 2011, will now work with former cricketers Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao, who joined the DC franchise as their new head coach and director of cricket respectively a month ago.
Known for his precise line and length during India’s successful 2011 World Cup campaign, Munaf adds depth to the Capitals’ coaching staff with his vast knowledge of pace bowling. He will focus on mentoring the young bowlers, sharpening their skills, and guiding them through the pressure of high-stakes IPL matches.
Munaf’s familiarity with Indian conditions and his ability to handle the demands of top-level cricket make him an exciting addition as Delhi Capitals aim for IPL success.
