Ranji Trophy Live Score: Shardul, Tanush rescue Mumbai
Shardul Thakur produced a remarkable recovery performance for Mumbai’s struggling side, with his second first-class hundred breathing new life into the reigning Ranji Trophy champions during their Elite Group A match against Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
With a first-innings deficit of 86 runs, Mumbai found themselves in a precarious position at 101/7 in their second innings. However, Thakur and Tanush Kotian established a crucial, unbroken 173-run stand for the eighth wicket, altering the match dynamics.
As Day Two concluded, Mumbai reached 274/7, establishing a lead of 188 runs. Thakur remained not out on 113 from 119 deliveries, featuring 13 fours, whilst Kotian scored an assured 58 not out from 119 balls, including six boundaries.
Despite experiencing cramps and surviving a dropped catch, Thakur demonstrated his characteristic determination. Kotian, meanwhile, enhanced his growing reputation by delivering another significant performance when it mattered most.
Mumbai’s innings had begun well, with Rohit Sharma (28) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (26) putting together a quick 54-run opening partnership, but a collapse through the middle order left them struggling before Thakur and Kotian’s intervention stabilised the situation.
