MS Dhoni to conclude his IPL career in Chennai? IPL 2024 Knockout Matches Schedule and Venues revealed by BCCI

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly confirmed the venues for the knockout matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. It is anticipated that the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the final match of the tournament.

The BCCI previously announced the schedule for the 21 matches of the marquee tournament, scheduled from March 22 to April 7. The Indian Cricket Board will release the remaining schedule in the coming days, taking into account the dates of the general elections.

Chennai, Ahmedabad To Host IPL 2024 Knockout Matches

The IPL 2024 final is set to take place at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, as confirmed by a BCCI official speaking to PTI. The decision ensures that the final will be held at the home ground of the defending champions.

Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator of the cash-rich league are set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Chepauk stadium in Chennai is expected to host Qualifier 2 in addition to the final match of the tournament.

“The IPL Governing Council has followed the tradition of holding the opening game and final at the home venue of last year’s defending champions — in this case Chennai Super Kings,” a BCCI official told PTI about the 2024 final venue.

Last year, the Super Kings secured their fifth title in a thrilling victory against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja led the Yellow Army to a triumphant six-wicket win with his batting in the final over.

The upcoming IPL knockout matches in Chennai hold special significance as they mark MS Dhoni‘s farewell from the league. Ahead of the first game, Dhoni made an unexpected decision to step down as captain of CSK, with Ruturaj Gaikwad assuming leadership duties.

MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings Lead Points Table Of IPL 2024

The CSK team commenced their IPL 2024 journey with a convincing six-wicket triumph over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Chennai on Friday, March 22. The win marked a promising start to the season for the Chennai Super Kings under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s leadership.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a challenging total of 173/6 after opting to bat first, thanks to significant contributions from Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat, and Dinesh Karthik. Anuj Rawat scored 48 runs, and Dinesh Karthik contributed an unbeaten 38 crucial runs.

Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers for the Super Kings, taking four wickets for 29 runs in four overs. Deepak Chahar also chipped in with a wicket, conceding 37 runs in his full quota of overs.

CSK began their chase strongly, led by Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra, who built a solid partnership. Despite RCB’s attempt to regain control with quick wickets, Shivam Dube sealed the victory for the CSK team.

In the subsequent matches of IPL 2024, the Punjab Kings secured victory against the Delhi Capitals, while the Kolkata Knight Riders triumphed over SunRisers Hyderabad on Saturday, March 23.
