Australia captain Pat Cummins has revealed that allrounder Mitchell Marsh will roll his arm over in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Cummins showed confidence in Marsh’s fitness and revealed that he will have a bowl in the Perth Test.
Mitchell Marsh has bowled just four overs since IPL 2024, during which he tore his hamstring badly. Since then, he has played purely as a batter even during the T20 World Cup 2024. However, being an all-rounder, he seems to be ready for his bowling duties as well.

Pat Cummins breaks silence on Mitchell Marsh’s role
Before the first Test, Pat Cummins revealed that Mitchell Marsh would bowl in Perth and fulfill his duties as a full-fledged allrounder. However, he further mentioned that Marsh won’t be required to bowl a lot as the main workload will be shared by the top four bowlers in the team.

“He (Mitchell Marsh) will definitely bowl this Test. He is an allrounder and with the way us four bowlers set out, we never really budget around an allrounder bowling heaps,” Cummins said.
“We never put an upper limit [on overs] on anyone. But he’s ready to go and happy to bowl as much as we need. I would imagine a few spells each innings. He’s been bowling great this week, his body is the best it has been for a while,” he added.
Mitchell Marsh likely to bowl short spells
Mitchell Marsh is set to bowl some short spells during each innings and provide some rest to the main bowlers in the long series. The 33-year-old has a golden arm and can emerge into a quality bowler on his day.
Marsh is set to bat at No. 6 in the batting order. He has an excellent record in the lower order in Tests in the past few years and is an integral part of Australia’s Test team. The right-hander is known to be aggressive and play with intent. He can take the game away from the opposition in a matter of a few overs.
The bowling attack will be led by the skipper Pat Cummins, who has all the experience in the world. Cummins will be the biggest threat to the Indian batters as he has the skill and keeps on bowling good lines and lengths.
Pat Cummins to spearhead bowling attack
Australia’s bowling line-up will feature Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood as the fast bowlers while Nathan Lyon is the lone spinner. Mitchell Marsh will bowl seam-ups while Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne can also roll their arm over.
The first Test will be played in Perth from November 22. The second Test will be played in Adelaide and it will be a day-night match as well. The final three Tests will be played in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney respectively.
