India’s firm stance on not traveling to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was not very surprising, given the infamous political uproar, but the BCCI’s controversial move has undoubtedly reignited the long-standing tensions between these two Asian giants.
The ICC confirmed that the BCCI is not going to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after the Indian government denied clearance. This call has drawn reactions from the cricket fraternity and fans across the world, with many expressing concerns over the deteriorating relations between India and Pakistan.
Michael Vaughan predicts India-Pakistan cricket future in jeopardy after Champions Trophy 2025 fallout
Reacting to the boiling issue, Michael Vaughan said that he is worried about the future cricketing ties between India and Pakistan after they refused to play Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Pakistan. Vaughan was also sure that Team India was not going to play in Pakistan; instead, they would prefer to play their Champions Trophy 2025 games in Dubai, UAE.

However, the former England captain believes that this late development made things more completed between India and Pakistan. Michael Vaughan is also worried that the BCCI’s decision could further strain the already deteriorating ties between the old foes.
Vaughan warned that the consequences of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 would be worse, possibly making it unlikely to see an India-Pakistan clash outside of ICC tournaments for a longer time.
The India-Pakistan relationship now could be an off-image: Vaughan
Michael Vaughan said on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast: “India have obviously announced that they would not be playing in Pakistan; it looks like they’re going to play in Dubai. I do think that India is not going to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy; I think that relationship now could be an off-image; it has not been great for a long time, and I think it is going to get worse. Potentially we might not see India play Pakistan for a long, long time.”
Michael Vaughan calls for historic India-Pakistan Test series on neutral ground
Despite all the drama, Michael Vaughan remains hopeful for a revival of the famous Test series between India and Pakistan. The former England captain backed the idea of hosting a thrilling India-Pakistan Test showdown on neutral grounds, possibly in Australia or even the UK, where cricket fans from both nations could come together to witness a historic encounter.

The cricket pundit feels that the significance of an India-Pakistan series is not just for the fans but for the game itself. Vaughan signed off by saying, “It is one thing I would really love to see in Test match cricket. India vs. Pakistan: if you can’t play it in your own backyard, play it here in Australia; we’ll host it in the UK.
There are so many supporters in the world that idolize India and Pakistan; that series would be a huge success, wherever you play. It’s sad that India would not be going to Pakistan; it is going to affect the game.”
