NEW DELHI: In just 100 days, cricket enthusiasts across the globe can brace themselves for a thrilling spectacle as Major League Cricket (MLC) gears up for its highly anticipated return on July 4, 2024. The upcoming season promises to showcase some of the biggest T20 stars, including Rashid Khan (MI New York), Faf du Plessis (Texas Super Kings), Marco Jansen (Washington Freedom), Quinton de Kock (Seattle Orcas), Haris Rauf (San Francisco Unicorns), and Sunil Narine (LA Knight Riders).
Following the resounding success of MLC’s historic inaugural season, all six teams from the previous edition will once again take center stage in 2024. The league’s debut season in 2023 revolutionized American cricket, captivating audiences with world-class T20 action and sold-out stadiums in Texas and North Carolina.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), the talents set to light up MLC’s stage have already been making waves. Faf du Plessis showcased his prowess with a blistering innings of 35 runs off 23 balls for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, while Marco Jansen has emerged as a leading speedster for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Quinton de Kock’s stellar performances are propelling the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) forward, and Sunil Narine delivered a masterful bowling spell of 1/19 for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
MI New York claimed the inaugural championship crown in MLC’s debut season, triumphing over the Seattle Orcas in a thrilling championship final at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium. The league’s second season promises even more excitement, kicking off after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies and the USA from June 1 to June 29.
USA cricket fans can also anticipate a treat as the nation hosts 16 matches of the flagship T20 event, including the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan on June 9 at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
The 2024 MLC season will witness matches returning to Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Grand Prairie, TX, along with additional venues yet to be announced.
