“Maarte rahenge”- Jitesh Sharma after RCB’s thumping win over CSK

Jitesh Sharma has opened up about his mindset and Rajat Patidar’s captaincy after Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) sensational 50-run triumph over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2025 game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 28.

It was a historic moment as RCB finally broke their 17-year drought against CSK at the iconic Chepauk, sparking a wave of excitement among fans and players. One of the most elated players was Jitesh Sharma, who couldn’t hold back his enthusiasm while talking about the remarkable win.

He admitted that his mindset was clear from the start to go after the CSK bowler if the ball landed in his hitting zone. It was all about keeping the pressure on CSK, and Jitesh executed his plan to perfection, hitting one boundary and one six during his 12-run stay off 6 balls in Chennai.

Jitesh Sharma credits team effort as RCB ends 17-year Chepauk curse against CSK

Jitesh Sharma said, “I was ready that if the ball came in my radar, I would hit the first ball or the second ball. The momentum was on our side, and I didn’t want to give that momentum to the next team. The pressure was always on them that whoever comes, they will keep hitting.”

Speaking about RCB’s thrilling win over CSK at Chepauk, Jitesh was quick to acknowledge how everyone contributed to the memorable victory. He said that this victory is special for the entire RCB camp, but more for Virat Kohli, who celebrated the long-awaited win at Chepauk.

The 31-year-old further shared, “It’s a perfect game. Everyone has contributed a little bit. It’s a good sign for us. Everyone is happy, mostly Virat Bhai, as we won the game at Chepauk after a long time. It’s a big thing for any team.”

Jitesh Sharma hails Rajat Patidar’s exceptional captaincy in his debut season

Jitesh also heaped praise on Rajat Patidar’s exceptional captaincy, calling him a natural captain who needed no guidance. It is Rajat’s debut season as IPL captain, but his calm and composed demeanor at Chepauk won everyone’s heart as RCB won back-to-back games in the ongoing IPL 2025.

The RCB batter further said of Rajat Patidar’s captaincy, “He is a ready-made captain. There was no need to teach him. He is an inbuilt captain. He is fine, he was calm in Chepauk and he was talking to everyone. The way he was handling the fielders and batters, I think it was beautiful to see.”

Speaking about MS Dhoni’s unique wicketkeeping skills, Jitesh admitted that the CSK legend’s technique is just unmatchable. He noted that Dhoni’s ability to collect the ball with such finesse and make lightning-fast decisions cannot be replicated.

I can’t copy his style: Jitesh Sharma’s ultimate praise for MS Dhoni

Jitesh admitted that trying to copy Dhoni’s style would only lead to mistakes, so he can only learn from the legendary cricketer. Notably, he was seen getting some words of wisdom from Dhoni at Chepauk after RCB’s thrilling win over CSK on Friday.

He signed off by saying, “It’s very difficult to bring that thing into my game. Because I can’t copy his style. He is unique. And if I try to copy him, I will make a lot of mistakes. That uniqueness has only made for MS Bhai. And it’s worth learning how he collects, what he thinks.”
