Gambhir’s post on X simply read, “Dare to Dream!!” accompanied by the celebratory pictures.
Since Gambhir’s return as the mentor in the 17th IPL season, KKR not only rediscovered their fighting spirit but also finished at the top of the table for the first time in the tournament’s history. The victory also marked the end of KKR’s 10-year trophy drought.
In the final match, SRH won the toss and chose to bat first. However, KKR’s bowling attack, led by the expensive acquisition Mitchell Starc, consistently took wickets, restricting SRH to a mere 113 runs in 18.3 overs. Only Pat Cummins (24 off 19 balls) and Aiden Markram (20 off 23 balls) managed to score more than 20 runs for SRH.
KKR’s chase of the 114-run target was swift, as they achieved it in just 10.3 overs with eight wickets to spare. Venkatesh Iyer (52* off 26 balls) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39 off 32 balls) were the standout performers for KKR in the final.
