Former Indian National Cricket Team player Harbhajan Singh came up with a hilarious statement on Cheteshwar Pujara and Josh Hazlewood. He said that the Australia National Cricket Team pacer was doing a party for four days when he got to know that the batter wasn’t coming to play.
Cheteshwar Pujara, who played a massive role for India in the last two tours to Australia, wasn’t named in the Indian squad for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The batter was dropped from the team after the ICC World Test Championship final in 2023.
Pujara not coming to Australia was a massive sigh of relief for the hosts’ bowlers as the batter made them work hard. He was one of the major reasons why the India National Cricket Team won the last two series down under and scripted history.
Cheteshwar Pujara batted for long periods in his last two tours to Australia
Pujara batted for long periods in both series and it was only because of him that Australian bowlers looked off-colour. He used to defend the ball for a long and when the fast bowlers used to get tired, he then used to hit boundaries.
Pujara was the leading run-getter during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018/19. He ended with 521 runs in 4 games, to go with three centuries and a fifty, including his gritty 193 at the SCG. And in the next tour, although he didn’t get many runs, he stayed at the crease longer than anyone else.
Pujara, in particular, troubled Josh Hazlewood a lot, and the batter earlier himself revealed that the fast bowler was so frustrated that he didn’t want to see his face. He revealed that speedster had left the team meeting when his name came there.
Hazelwood has been partying for four days when he go to know that Cheteshwar Pujara is not coming to Australia – Harbhajan Singh
Pujara, who is now commentating in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, was praised by fellow commentator Harbhajan Singh as he hilariously mocked Josh Hazlewood. He claimed that the pacer had been partying for four days when he got to know that Pujara was not playing. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:
“Cheteshwar Pujara, when they got to know that you are not coming to Australia, Hazlewood partied for four days because Pujara is not coming. If Pujara was coming, he would have said after two test matches, that he has bowled for five test matches.”
You come to Sydney, wear white clothes and stand like this – Harbhajan Singh to Cheteshwar Pujara
Harbhajan Singh further urged Cheteshwar Pujara to come in a white dress in Sydney as he felt it would bring tensions to Australia National Cricket Team bowlers. He added:
“And in the third Test, poor guy, he would have cried so much that his condition would have become bad. He would’ve said that Pujara is standing, maybe he has come to play. You come to Sydney, wear white clothes and stand like this, that Pujara has come, half the bowlers will already get tensed.”
