The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah might have to wait to take over the charge of the International Cricket Council (ICC). As per the reports in Cricket Pakistan, it is learned that his appointment could be delayed by one month.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah was all set to take over the charge of ICC from 1st December. However, it has been decided to hand current chairman Greg Barclay an extension of one month to ensure a smooth transition in ICC leadership.

It is learned that the move to delay Shah’s appointment as ICC Chairman is taken because of the ongoing developments surrounding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Since Greg Barclay has been overseeing the Champions Trophy conundrum, he has been asked to complete the case completely.
It would have been tough for Jay Shah to resolve the matter soon after taking charge as ICC chair. Therefore, it is expected that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary will take the mantle of the International Cricket Council (ICC) from next month.

Jay Shah was elected unopposed as the chairman of the ICC. He got the backing of 15 out of the 16 members of the International Cricket Council, including Cricket Australia and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). At 35 years, he will become the youngest ever to take over the role of the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Jay Shah will be serving two terms of three years each as the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). In the current scenario, the chairman of the ICC serves three terms of two years each. After serving this tenure, he will be eligible to become BCCI president.

The current conundrum surrounding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is likely to conclude. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to accept the hybrid model but has put two key conditions in front of the ICC as compensation.
The PCB is likely to ask the ICC to ensure they play all ICC tournaments in India till 2031 in a hybrid model. Apart from this, “Pakistan also wants the ICC board to increase its financial cycle share of revenues from 5.75 percent.”
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be taking place in February-March next year. With all the fuss around the tournament reaching its conclusion, it is expected that ICC will be announcing the schedule of the tournament in the coming few days. India National Cricket Team is likely to play all their games in UAE and it is expected that one semi-final and final will also take place in Gulf country.
