India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah has recently given a quick-witted response to a journalist who labelled him as the medium pacer. Bumrah claimed that he has the ability to bowl 150 kph and thus, cannot be called a medium pacer.
Bumrah will lead India in the Perth Test in the absence of the regular captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit is yet to join India’s squad for the five-match Test series against Australia as he stayed in India to be with his wife for the birth of his second child.

Jasprit Bumrah refuses to call himself a medium pacer
In Rohit Sharma’s absence, Jasprit Bumrah attended the press conference. He was asked by a journalist about being a medium-pace captain. The fast bowler replied by saying that he can bowl 150 kph which is why he should be called a fast bowling captain.
“How does it feel to captain India as a medium-pace allrounder?,” the reporter asked.
“Yaar, I can bowl 150kmph, at least you say, fast bowler captain,” Bumrah responded in his own way.
Jasprit Bumrah has the ability to bowl around 140-145 kph on a regular basis. He is India’s bowling spearhead and has been the standout performer for India during the last few years across various conditions.
Jasprit Bumrah – India’s bowling spearhead
Bumrah will be India’s biggest weapon in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. In an inexperienced bowling attack, Bumrah stands out amongst the rest. He has the ability to bowl at a high pace on a consistent basis and can be lethal with both new and old balls.
On Australian pitches, he can be a lethal weapon for India but it remains to be seen how he performs over the course of a long series. Maintaining full fitness over such a long course won’t be easy but India desperately needs Bumrah to perform.
Bumrah was a part of India’s squad in both the Test series wins in Australia on the last two occasions. During both series, he played key roles in India’s series wins, especially during 2018-19 when he picked up 21 wickets in 4 Tests and emerged as the highest wicket-taker of the series.

Jasprit Bumrah also spoke about Nitish Kumar Reddy as a player and praised his skills. “(Nitish) Reddy is quite talented and we are positive about him. You have seen in IPL also, he believes in his game,” Bumrah said.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is a young talented allrounder capable of achieving big things in the future. The youngster is a future star and the upcoming series is his debut Test series. It will be a huge occasion for him to be a part of India’s squad.
The first Test of the series will be played in Perth from November 22. The second Test in Adelaide will be a day-night Test. The last three Tests will be played in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
