Former Pakistan cricketer and PCB chairman Ramiz Raja has backed the two-bouncer rule in IPL 2024. Ramiz Raja said that the two bouncers rule in an over will make the game interesting. IPL 2024 has made a chance to allow every bowler two bouncers in an over.
The two-bouncer rule is a new rule that will attract eyeballs in IPL 2024. Earlier, only one bouncer was allowed in an over. However, two bouncers will give a significant advantage to bowlers, who are mostly on the losing end in the shortest format like in the IPL.
In the IPL 2024 opener, RCB bowlers made fabulous use of the new rule. RCB pacers bowled a lot of bouncers to CSK batters Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja in the later half of the match. However, they failed to win the game as CSK outplayed them by 6 wickets in the end.

Former Pakistan player Ramiz Raja praised the new rule change in IPL 2024. Raja feels that two bouncers will make the games interesting.
“Two bouncers an over is a great rule change ! Not only will it test batsmen, it will tactically make the game interesting & importantly narrow the gap/balance between bat and ball”, he wrote on X.
The active commentator also feels the rule will prepare batters for Test cricket.

Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League also saw a visible rule change last season. The impact player rule was added last season, which allowed teams to change one player in the playing 11 after the end of an inning. Hence, the impact player rule allows teams to play 12 players during a match.

Wasim Akram trolled Ramiz Raja recently
Ramiz Raza was trolled by Wasim Akram a few weeks ago during a TV show. Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram made fun of Ramiz Raja’s comments about using a T20 squad in Tests. As the PCB chairman, Raja suggested Babar Azam to play T20 players in Test format after their 3-0 whitewash against England in a Test series.
Post Akram’s reactions, many Pakistani fans trolled Ramiz Raja for his comments. Notably, Raja was removed as PCB chairman after Pakistan’s 3-0 loss against England in the Test series at home in December 2022. He led the post for almost 15 months.

CSK outplay RCB in IPL 2024 opener
Meanwhile, IPL 2024 witnessed CSK winning the opening encounter against RCB by 6 wickets. RCB piled up 173-6 in 1st innings with late knocks by Dinesh Karthik (38*) and Anuj Rawat (48*). However, CSK chased down the target within 19 overs with a combined effort by their batters. Mustafizur Rahman clinched the player of the match with his 4-wicket haul.
