IPL 2024 full schedule announced, final to take place on May 26

The remainder of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) will take place in India as the BCCI has announced the full schedule of the seventeenth edition of the tournament.

Recent reports suggested that there was a possibility of the tournament moving outside India due to the general elections. A leading news outlet even suggested that the franchises had asked the players to submit their passports in order to remain prepared for the worst-case scenario.

In 2009 and 2014, the tournament had to shift outside the country due to the election. While the entire competition was held in South Africa in 2009, the first phase of IPL 2014 was held in the UAE. There were apprehensions that the ongoing tournament could be shifted outside the country too.

With the BCCI releasing the schedule of only 21 matches last month, the chances of the tournament moving outside India only increased. However, the board, on Monday (March 25), confirmed that the entire IPL 2024 will be taking place in India. With the election dates already announced, the BCCI has done well to prepare a schedule that does not overlap with the election dates in particular centers in the seven phases.

IPL 2024 full schedule:

Last month, the BCCI had announced the schedule of matches from March 22 to April 7. According to the schedule of the remaining IPL 2024 games, the 22nd game of the tournament is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 8. Reigning champions Chennai Super Kings will be locking horns against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 22nd match of IPL 2024.

Just like last year, Dharamsala and Guwahati will host two games this year as well. While Dharamsala will be the second base for the Punjab Kings, Guwahati will be the other base for the Rajasthan Royals. The last league game is scheduled to be played between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 19 in Guwahati.

There will be a one-day break on May 20 before the playoffs kickstart on May 21. The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera on May 21 and 22 while the Qualifier 2 and the final will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 24 and 26.
