Interests in BC Horses for Sale at Championship Sale

Keeneland announced today that 12 offerings covering an array of Breeders’ Cup World Championships hopefuls such as Mufasa , Gold Phoenix , Kilwin , and Pandora’s Gift  along with talented stakes performers and stallion shares in Horse of the Year Flightline   and grade 1 winner Cogburn  comprise the inaugural Championship Sale catalog, now available on Championship.Keeneland.com. The Championship Sale will be held Oct. 30, in the paddock at Del Mar, site of the Nov. 1-2 Breeders’ Cup. The event begins at 5 p.m. PT; the sale starts at 6:30 p.m. 

The interactive catalog features photos, videos, speed figures, and more for each entered horse.

Breeders’ Cup Contenders and Connections

  • A 50% ownership interest in recent Vosburgh Stakes (G3) winner Mufasa. A 5-year-old son of Practical Joke  , Mufasa has won 10 of 13 lifetime races in the United States and Chile and is a leading contender for the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1). The interest is consigned by I. C. Racing, agent.
  • A 25% interest in grade 1 winner and millionaire Gold Phoenix, consigned by Little Red Feather Racing, Sterling Stables, and Marsha Naify. This year, Gold Phoenix won the Del Mar Handicap (G2T) for the third consecutive time and took the Charles Whittingham Stakes (G2T); last year he won the Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1T) and the Eddie Read Stakes (G2T). Gold Phoenix is anticipated to make his next start in the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1T).
  • A 25% interest in undefeated Kilwin, winner of the $998,550 Untapable Stakes at Kentucky Downs in September. Kilwin is scheduled to start in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T). The interest is consigned by Damian and Braxton Lynch’s Royal Oak Farm, agent for owners BBN Racing.
  • Pandora’s Gift, a multiple group/graded stakes-placed winner in England and the U.S. who finished third in Keeneland‘s Franklin Stakes (G2T) Oct. 13. She is being pointed toward the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) or the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1T). Pandora’s Gift is consigned by Stuart Williams Racing.
  • She’s Got a Way , a winning, stakes-placed half sister to undefeated Japanese racing sensation Ecoro Sieg, among the favorites for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1T). In winning the Canna Stakes in September at Nakayama, Ecoro Sieg posted a time of 1:07.02 for 1,200 meters, the fastest time recorded by a juvenile at that distance in the history of the Japan Racing Association. She’s Got a Way, a 5-year-old mare by Tonalist  , is consigned as a broodmare prospect by River Oak Farm, agent for Forever Spring Farm. 

High-Quality Stakes Performers

  • A 25% interest in grade 1 winner Book’em Danno , one of the top 3-year-old sprinters in the country, consigned by Gracie Bloodstock, agent for Atlantic Six Racing. Book’em Danno finished second in the Saudi Derby (G3) in February before returning to the States to win the Woody Stephens Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course and the Jersey Shore Stakes at Monmouth Park. He finished third in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes (G1) at Saratoga in late August. He is entered in Keeneland’s Perryville Stakes (G3) Oct. 19.
  • Reincarnate , a graded stakes-winning colt by Good Magic   consigned by ELiTE, agent. Winner at 3 last year of the Sham Stakes (G3) and the Los Alamitos Derby, Reincarnate is grade 1-placed in the Pacific Classic Stakes (G1) and the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) in 2024.
  • Rothschild , a multiple graded stakes-placed winner by Uncle Mo  . A talented grass horse, Rothschild finished third in the Nashville Derby Invitational (G3T) at Kentucky Downs in August and the Oceanside Stakes at Del Mar in July. He was second in the 2023 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes (G3T), also at Del Mar. Rothschild is consigned by ELiTE, agent. 
  • Green Light , a multiple stakes-placed winning sophomore son of Hard Spun  . This year, he has recorded two wins and third-place finishes in the American Derby and Kentucky Downs Preview Nashville Derby. Green Light was an impressive allowance winner against older horses at Keeneland Oct. 9 and is a live contender for the Hollywood Derby (G1T) in late November. He is consigned by Bridie Harrison, agent for Peter E. Blum Thoroughbreds. 
  • Cornell , a multiple stakes-placed winning 3-year-old colt by Into Mischief  . Consigned by ELiTE, agent, Cornell was second in the Los Alamitos Derby and third in the Affirmed Stakes in June. He won an allowance going one mile on the dirt at Santa Anita Park in late September, earning a lifetime-best 110 Equibase Speed Figure.  

Stallion Shares

  • A stallion share in 2022 Horse of the Year and sire Flightline, who stands at Lane’s End Farm and whose first foals are weanlings of 2024. Consigned by Lane’s End, agent, the share is offered by an original owner of Flightline.
  • A stallion share in grade 1 winner and North American record holder Cogburn, who is targeting the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. Cogburn will be retired at the end of the year to WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky., for the 2025 breeding season. The share is consigned by ELiTE, agent for Cogburn Syndicate.

Given the sale’s proximity to the Breeders’ Cup races, all cataloged horses will be offered remotely but will be available for inspection by appointment with the seller in their respective locations.
