Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes is on tap for Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida this Saturday, March 21. Fillies and mares four years old and upward will be featured when they go seven furlongs on Gulfstream’s dirt track for a purse of $200,000.
The Inside Information Stakes has attracted a field of seven older females to go in race 7 on Gulfstream’s Saturday card. Post time is 4:00 PM. Here is a glimpse into the past performances of all seven entries for this Grade 2 stakes.
Merry Meadow – multiple Grade 3 winner Mark Hennig trained filly placed in six of eight starts last year and enters this week on a tidy three race win streak. Last time out was a superb 9 1/2 length win in the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie Stakes here February 14 after another win by 1 1/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Sugar Swirl Stakes and a victory by 1 3/4 lengths in the minor Sky Beauty Stakes November 1 at Gulfstream Park West. Before that was a somewhat disappointing fourth in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom Handicap September 20 and a third in the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap at Saratoga July 28. Other good results include a second in the Grade 3 Bed o’ Roses Handicap in June and a terrific win – in the Grade 3 Vagrancy Handicap by 3 3/4 lengths at 6-1 odds May 17. She now has 26 career starts with eight wins, 10 seconds and five third place finishes and will be looking to make it four straight wins Saturday. Merry Meadow has placed in 23 of 26career starts – as consistent as can be. Leading Gulfstream rider Javier Castellano will be in the saddle of the 121 pound top weight from post 2 Saturday.
Classic Point – Allen Jerkins pupil was last seen winning the Grade 3 Go for Wand Handicap at Aqueduct November 28 which followed another win in the minor Punkin Pie Stakes at Belmont Park October 13. Before that was a fifth in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom Handicap September 20, an eighth in the Grade 3 Bed o’ Roses Handicap June 21 and a last of sixth in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Stakes June 7. She ended 2014 with a bang after looking average for a good part of the summer and will make her 2015 debut Saturday. Classic Point hopes to make it three wins in a row when she leaves from gate 4 with Paco Lopez in the irons.
Sweet Whiskey – Todd Pletcher trained filly has placed in seven of 11 career starts – two wins, four seconds and a third place finish. She is coming off a fourth after setting the pace in the Grade 3 Go for Wand Handicap at Aqueduct November 28 which followed a second in the Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland October 18, a sixth in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes and a fifth in the Grade 1 Test Stakes. Before that were consecutive seconds – in the Grade 2 Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland April 13 and behind Sweet Reason in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes June 7. She had and a career defining win on this track – by 2 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes January 4, 2014 as well. Sweet Whiskey has been up and down in the last eight months but returns to the scene of her only graded stakes score. John Velazquez has the mount from post 3.

Best Behavior – Martin Wolfson trained mare made her graded stakes debut February 14 and finished a disappointing tenth in the Grade 2 Barbara Fritchie Handicap at Laurel Park having recorded three wins and two seconds in her previous five starts. Two starts back was a second in the minor Miami Shores Handicap January 7 after a win in the minor Glass Slipper Stakes (both results on this track), a second behind Merry Meadow in the minor Sky Beauty Stakes at Gulfstream Park West in November and consecutive Allowance Optional Claiming scores here during the summer. She has seven wins, six seconds and five third place finishes in 21 career starts and will be looking for a bounceback this weekend. Edgard Zayas rides from the outside post.
You Bought Her – David Hisley trained mare makes her graded stakes debut Saturday in decent form. Last time out was a win in the minor Minaret Stakes February 21 which followed a second in the minor Lightning City Stakes January 24 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score – all at Tampa Bay Downs. She has six wins, six seconds and five third place finishes in 28 career starts and has not looked out of place in her only two stakes starts to date. Corey Lanerie will get the call on this improving entry from the rail.
Quiet Hour – has 17 career starts with four wins, three seconds and three third place finishes for trainer Martin Wolfson and makes her graded stakes debut Saturday. Last time out was an Allowance Optional Claiming score February 26 after a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming February 4. Quiet Hour has four wins in six starts at this distance but has yet to place in stakes company. She hopes to change that from post 5 with Julien Leparoux guiding her.
Centrique – Martin Wolfson trainee finished fifth in this race last year and has been up and down since. She had a two race win streak – both Starter Optional Claiming races in gate-to-wire fashion on this track this past winter before a fourth in the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie Stakes here February 14. Before her win streak she failed to place in three straight including a fifth in the Grade 3 Sugar Swirl Stakes on this track December 13. Centrique has 40 career starts with 12 wins, seven seconds and six third place finishes but looks for her first graded stakes score in her seventh try on a track she’s won five of 10 career starts. She departs from post 6 with Luis Saez aboard.
