A major development related to the participation of the India team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has taken world cricket by storm. As per the reports in Sports Tak, it is learned that the Indian government has denied giving clearance to BCCI to send the team to Pakistan for the tournament after the unofficial conversations.
The reports claimed that ICC will be announcing the schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on 11th November. However, they will not be announcing the entire schedule as only the dates of the games will be announced and it will take some time to decide venues for the tournament.
BCCI will now be writing officially to the Indian government to get a clear picture of their participation
It is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will now be writing officially to the government to get a clear picture. Since the schedule usually comes three months ahead of the tournament and with no clarity over the participation of India, ICC, as well as PCB, are facing massive headaches.
The reports added that all the saga related to the government giving clearance to BCCI to send the team to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will take one more month. But with the things that have been panning out, there is a high chance that the higher authorities won’t be allowing the Indian team to travel to Pakistan.
So far, there hasn’t been a positive development on the entire issue, and the stance of the Indian government is that they won’t send their team to Pakistan. However, things can change if any dramatic things unfold and the relationship between the two countries gets better in a month.
Earlier, there were reports which claimed that ICC had kept three plans in mind related to the Champions Trophy 2025. The first plan is to stage the entire tournament in Pakistan, and the second one is the Hybrid model, where all the games will be played in Pakistan except for the Men in Blue’s games, the semi-final, and the final, which will be played in Dubai.
The third option is to move the entire tournament out of Pakistan. The reports claimed that the entire event might be played in Dubai, Sri Lanka, or South Africa. If this is not enough, the ICC has also prepared a budget for all three options, and it will be a massive blow for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will no doubt stay as the hosts of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. But moving the tournament out of Pakistan comes as a big development even though all the hosting rights will stay with the defending Champions.
ICC is not satisfied with the way renovations are going around across stadiums in Pakistan
The reports also claimed that the ICC is not satisfied with the way renovations are going around across stadiums in Pakistan. The governing body wanted the Pakistan Cricket Board to finish all the work by 31st December. However, all the renovations are likely to be completed by January.
It is also learned that if the renovations don’t get complete, then the Pakistan Cricket Board might come under scanner as well. The clear picture of the venue for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is likely to come out soon.
