NEW DELHI: Former cricketer Basit Ali has expressed his views on the much-anticipated cricket match between India and Pakistan in the upcoming Champions Trophy, positioning India as the favoured team.
This match, set to take place in Dubai on February 23, adds another chapter to the intense rivalry between the two cricketing nations. Historically, in the Champions Trophy context, Pakistan has a slight edge over India with a 3-2 lead in their last five encounters.
Basit Ali, sharing his analysis on his YouTube channel, quantified his prediction, suggesting a 70% chance of victory for India and a 30% chance for Pakistan.

He attributed this prediction to the comparative experience of the Indian team, highlighting the pivotal roles of players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
According to Ali, the form of these key players could significantly influence the match’s outcome.
“70 per cent India 30 per cent Pakistan. India have a more experienced side. If Virat and Rohit are not in form, then the game will be even,” Basit said.
The last time these two teams met in the Champions Trophy was in 2017, where Pakistan secured a notable victory against India by 180 runs in the final.
This upcoming match in Dubai is eagerly awaited by fans, given the historical context and the recent performances of both teams.
In preparation for the Champions Trophy, both India and Pakistan have scheduled One Day International (ODI) matches.
India are set to play a series of three ODIs against England, starting in Nagpur, followed by matches in Cuttack and concluding in Ahmedabad on February 12. This series is part of India’s preparation strategy leading into the tournament.
Pakistan, on the other hand, are participating in a tri-series involving South Africa and New Zealand, aimed at bolstering their defence of the title.
