India set for wholesale changes in 5th T20I? Shubman Gill reveals after series-clinching 4th T20I win vs Zimbabwe

The 4th T20I of the India tour of Zimbabwe 2024 was played at the Harare Sports Club. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the India National Cricket Team locked horns with the Sikandar Raza-led Zimbabwe National Cricket Team on Saturday, July 13.

Shubman Gill’s team bounced back pretty well after losing the series opener by 13 runs in a shocking manner. They clinched the victories in the second, third, and fourth T20Is in a dominant manner. It was an all-round show from the visitors in the next three games as they won by 100 runs, 23 runs, and 10 wickets.

However, the significant performances came from the batters and they were the shining light. In the 2nd game, it were Abhishek Sharma (100), Ruturaj Gaikwad (77), and Rinku Singh (48), who helped India post a gigantic total of 234/2 on the board. Abhishek Sharma was also awarded player of the match for heroics in just his second game at the international level. The left-handed batter shattered a number of records with his heroics, including being the fastest batter from the Indian team to score a T20I ton as he just took 2 games to reach the feat.

In the 3rd T20I, it was skipper Shubman Gill who led from the front as he scored a brilliant 66 runs and was well supported by others, including Ruturaj Gaikwad (49) as India posted 182/4 on the board.

Chasing was one thing we were talking about because we were not able to do that in the first T20 – Shubman Gill

In the fourth T20I, India invited Zimbabwe to bat first and the visitors ended up with a total of 152/7 on the board, thanks to Sikandar Raza, Wessly Madhevere, and Tadiwanashe Marumani.

During the run-chase, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill showcased a tremendous batting display and added 156 runs together to take India past the line with 10 wickets in hand. Jaiswal smoked 93 runs while Gill smashed 58 runs.

Shubman Gill was a happy camper after his team won the 4th T20I and sealed the series 3-1 with one match to go. Speaking after the match, Shubman Gill said that they wanted to win while chasing that’s why they opted to bowl first in the match.

Shubman Gill also said that the job of his team is not yet done as they also want to win the last T20I. When asked whether India will make wholesale changes in the fifth and final T20I on Sunday, Shubman Gill said that they are yet to have discussions on that matter.

“Chasing was one thing we were talking about because we were not able to do that in the first T20. It feels good but the job is not done, we have one more game. This is a great team. I haven’t had the discussion with the coach and if there are any changes then I will let you know at the toss,” Shubman Gill elaborated.
