Sri Lanka will be led by CHarith Asalanka. Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down as the team’s T20I skipper after their forgetful T20 World Cup campaign. They just won one match which became inconclusive in the end.
Dushmantha Chameera was ruled out of the series due to a respiratory infection. Angelo Mathews and Dhanajaya de Silva have been left out while Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Perera have been recalled.

The two teams have played 29 T20Is to date with India winning 19 games and Sri Lanka nine. In the last five games, India has won three and Sri Lanka two.
