Team India are soon going to have a new head coach as Rahul Dravid will be stepping down from the post after the conclusion of the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Dravid has been the head coach of the team since 2021. His original contract expired in November last year after the end of the ODI World Cup but the BCCI managed to convince him to stay till the T20 World Cup. However, he has decided against extending his stay this time and has already informed the BCCI about it.

The board has also started its process of hiring a new coach. They have already advertised for the post and the deadline to submit the application is May 27. As of now, there is very little clarity over who will replace Dravid as the India coach. While only time will reveal his replacement, former England spinner Graeme Swann has thrown his hat in the ring.

England legend willing to become India coach:

During an event in Delhi, Graeme Swann made it clear that he won’t decline the offer if given the chance to become India’s head coach. The England legend expressed his admiration for India and said he would accept the offer to become the head coach in a heartbeat.

“If India asked me to become their coach, I’d do it in a heartbeat! I love this place,” Swann told Sports Tak.

Swann is yet to ply his trade as a head coach for any national team. However, he was recently a part of the coaching group for the England Lions ahead of the senior team’s tour of India. Swann also shared his views on Andy Flower as India’s coach. Flower recently said that he won’t be applying for the role.

“Andy was an incredible coach for England when I played. He took us to no.1 in the world, and was the best coach I’ve played under. India would be lucky to have him,” Swann said.

“India… you’ve got such a strong squad, such a highly talented players, that whoever gets the job… it will be the biggest coaching job in world cricket these days. Whoever gets it, hope they bringing success because they are really under the microscope,” added the former spinner.

Meanwhile, Team India will be in action soon when the T20 World Cup gets underway next month. The tournament is scheduled to be played from June 1 to 29 in the USA and West Indies. India will be opening their campaign on June 5 against Ireland.
