ICC sends message to PCB amid CT final presentation ceremony controversy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for successfully hosting the recently concluded Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, the International Cricket Council also acknowledged the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) for organizing five matches, including the final in Dubai.

The Champions Trophy was played from February 19 to March 9. It was the first time Pakistan hosted a global event since 1996. A total of 15 matches in the tournament took place in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi in Pakistan, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, where India played all their matches.

ICC Thanks PCB for Successfully Hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said that the Pakistan Cricket Board successfully hosted the Champions Trophy 2025. Allardice stated that they should be proud of their contributions, including renovating stadiums.

“We would like to thank and congratulate the Pakistan Cricket Board for successfully hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025,” Allardice said, as quoted from a release by ICC.

“As this was the first global multi-team cricket event played in the country since 1996, this event was of huge significance for the PCB, and all those involved in renovating the stadiums, preparing the playing surfaces, delivering the matches and hosting the teams and visitors should be very proud of their efforts,” he added.

ICC Thanks Emirates Cricket Board for Hosting Five Matches

Geoff Allardice appreciated the Emirates Cricket Board for hosting five matches in Dubai. Allardice also thanked the eight participating teams for their contributions to an exciting tournament and congratulated India on securing their third Champions Trophy title in a memorable final.

“The ICC would also like to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for staging five of the matches in Dubai and continuing to provide great support to the ICC in staging its major men’s and women’s events,” he noted.

“The tournament once again showed the importance of ICC events as fans all over the world watched and followed it with great enthusiasm either at the venues or on satellite and digital channels,” he said.

“Thanks to the eight participating teams for making it such a compelling event, and congratulations to India for winning a third Champions Trophy title in a memorable final,” he added.

Team India Secured Third Champions Trophy Title in Dubai

The ICC adopted a hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy after India refused to travel to the host nation Pakistan, citing security concerns. All of India’s matches, including the knockouts, were played in Dubai.

India capitalized on their star-studded squad and the advantage of playing at a single venue. They secured their third Champions Trophy title with a four-wicket win over New Zealand in the final at the Dubai International Stadium.

New Zealand, in contrast, had to compete across all four venues, including traveling between Dubai and other host cities during the group stage.

Pakistan, the official host, had a disappointing tournament, finishing last in Group A and suffering an early exit in the group stage.
