Nair had been sitting out

Nair was finally given a chance to play an IPL match when he was included in the Delhi Capitals’ playing 11 for their game against the Mumbai Indians. Karun Nair on his duel with Jasprit Bumrah:

Karun Nair also spoke about his plans to deal with Jasprit Bumrah in the last game. His battle with Bumrah was truly exhilarating. While he looked in good touch right from the start, not many were expecting him to attack arguably the world’s best pacer in his first IPL game since 2022.

However, the right-hander backed himself and got the reward for it. Bumrah was introduced into the attack to deliver the fourth over, and Karun Nair welcomed him by hitting two fours.

Nair had an amazing session against Bumrah

Bumrah then bowled the final over of the powerplay as well, and Nair hit the India pace spearhead for 18 runs to complete his fifty off just 22 balls. He hit the pacer for two exquisite sixes and a four in addition to taking a double.

Speaking on his plans against Bumrah, Nair said: “I wasn’t targeting any player specifically. Was just looking to attack and play. I had the complete freedom and confidence of the dressing room.”

With form on his side, Nair will be eyeing another impactful outing with the bat. As per reports, he is in contention to earn a recall from the Indian Test team and will be keen to make the opportunities count in the ongoing IPL.
