“Hurt hua ki…” – Yash Dayal reveals heartbreaking impact of online trolling post-Rinku Singh’s IPL onslaught

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler Yash Dayal opened up about the tough times that he faced after being hit for 5 consecutive sixes by Rinku Singh in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He revealed that he fell ill after the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Yash Dayal was among the unfortunate names in world cricket who became famous for his unwanted feat in the Indian Premier League. Playing for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023, he had the worst night of his career as he made his team lose from the winning position in the game.

Yash Dayal was given the responsibility to save 29 runs in the last over and it was almost certain that Gujarat Titans would win the game easily. But it wasn’t the case as Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh had something else in mind and etched his name in the record books.

After Umesh Yadav took a single on the first ball, Rinku Singh smashed the next 5 balls for 5 sixes to Yash Dayal and won the game for his team. Following that nothing went in favor of the left-arm pacer as he was dropped from the team and the franchise also didn’t retain him.

Now after an year, Yash Dayal opened up about the time he had after that stating that despite being told by team management to not look into social media, he did that. He revealed that it affected that and while speaking to Mohammed Siraj, he explained:

“Match ke baad mai jab gaya waapis toh mujhe kaafi problem hui, mereko mana kiya gaya tha ki social media mar dekhna. But maine dekh liya (Yash Dayal said “After GT v KKR game, I was asked not to see the social media but I still went on).”

Yash Dayal further added that after he got hit for 5 sixes, he felt hurt by what people thought about him and it made him fall ill as well. However, his strong belief made him come back stronger as focused on the process. He added:

“Hurt hua ki log kya scohte hai, hum kis background se aata hai aur khelte hai. Do teen din mey meri tabiyat kharab ho gayi thi (I felt hurt about what people thought of me, hurt more when they didn’t realise what background I come from & play cricket. I feel ill after the match),”

“In hindsight, I know I was not the first person who has faced this situation so I worked on the process rather than the outside noise”.

Yash Dayal has made a terrific comeback after the setback. The fast bowler was picked by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the IPL 2024 for INR 5 crore. The left arm has been tremendous with the ball in the two games that he has played for the team.

Yash Dayal has swung the ball incredibly well and is making sure that he silences all the noise with his performances. In the recent game against Punjab Kings, he returned with figures of 1/23 from his four overs.
