KKR allrounder Ramandeep Singh has opened up on the heartwarming gesture from the legendary India cricketer Yuvraj Singh. The allrounder revealed the moment how Yuvraj helped him by missing his own practice session and staying in the sun for an entire afternoon.

Ramandeep Singh praised the way Yuvraj Singh helps the budding cricketers and takes them under his wings. He claimed that Yuvraj is always willing to help the upcoming cricketers despite being a busy personality for the entire year.

“He missed his practice session for me” – Ramandeep Singh

During a podcast on the ‘Raj Shamani’ YouTube channel, Ramandeep Singh revealed an incident when Yuvraj Singh stood in the sun to help him and even missed his practice session. The legendary all-rounder also gave some valuable advice to Ramandeep on his batting later.

“I keep on having conversations with Yuvi paaji (Yuvraj Singh). He’s from Punjab, and I am lucky that he has seen me batting. When the COVID-19 restrictions were initially lifted, we used to practice at the PCA Stadium. Yuvi paaji used to come there too,” said Ramandeep.

“One of the days, he missed his practice session for me and arranged the center wicket. He stood in the sun the entire afternoon at the umpire’s position and recorded my batting videos,” he revealed.

“He took my number and shared those videos with me and was giving me advice – what needs to improve, what I was doing well, and what I wasn’t,” the allrounder added.

Ramandeep Singh opened up on Yuvraj Singh’s willingness to help the budding cricketers. He claimed that Yuvraj has helped a no. of emerging cricketers from Punjab and helped them shine on the big stage.

“That guy has a huge heart. He is a bigger character than he was as a cricketer. He goes out of his way; that’s his nature. He has helped Shubman (Gill), Abhishek (Sharma), Anmolpreet Singh, Prabhsimran (Singh),” said Ramandeep.

“When it comes to batting, they all take their problems to Yuvraj Singh. It’s never happened that he hasn’t answered their phone. Everyone. And a person like him, who is busy the whole year, still managed to take time out,” he added.

Out of these players, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma are already playing for India. Gill is even seen as India’s future captain and is currently the vice-captain of the ODI team. Meanwhile, Abhishek is also establishing himself as one of the most devastating openers.

Ramandeep Singh’s growth as a cricketer

Ramandeep is currently playing in the IPL, where he is representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He had a breakthrough season last year when he scored 125 runs at a blistering strike rate of 201.61.

Due to his unique big-hitting abilities, he was also awarded his international debut during India’s T20I series in South Africa. He even hit a six off his first ball in international cricket off South Africa’s Andile Simelane.

Ramandeep has that X-factor in him and can emerge as a big match-winner for India in the future. The 27-year-old can also roll his arm over and bowl a few useful overs during the match. Apart from his batting and bowling, he is also a fantastic fielder.
