Full List Of Players Retained And Released By All WPL Teams

On Thursday, November 7, the full list of players retained and released by the Women’s Premier League (WPL) franchises was officially announced.

All 5 teams – UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, Mumbai Indians Women, Gujarat Giants, and Delhi Capitals Women – have made some major changes ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction.

Mumbai Indians Women And Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women Won First Two Editions Of WPL

Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians Women won the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) by defeating the Delhi Capitals Women in the final in 2023.

MI-W finished in the second position on the points table and then went on to beat UP Warriorz in Eliminator to book a spot in the summit clash. They delivered a great performance in the WPL 2023 final and won the match by 7 wickets to continue the legacy of the Mumbai Indians.

In the 2024 season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women ensured that the RCB franchise won its first-ever trophy in history. After a decent run in the group stage, they finished at the third position.

However, the Smriti Mandhana-led side played brilliantly in the WPL 2024 Eliminator and beat the defending champions Mumbai Indians Women by 5 runs to book a spot in the final.

On the biggest occasion, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women finally crossed the hurdle as they defeated the Delhi Capitals Women by 8 wickets and lifted the trophy.

WPL Retention 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women

The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, have let go of six players, including one foreigner.

Players Retained By RCB: Smriti Mandhana, S Meghana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, Georgia Wareham, Shreyanka Patil, Asha Sobhana, Sophie Devine, Renuka Singh, Sophie Molineux, Ekta Bisht, Kate Cross, Kanika Ahuja.

Players Released By RCB: Disha Kasat, Indrani Roy, Nadine de Klerk, Shubha Satheesh, Shraddha Pokarkar, Simran Bahadur.

WPL Retention 2025: Mumbai Indians Women

Mumbai Indians have released just four players and one among them is the overseas star Issy Wong, who did a good job for the team in the inaugural season.

WPL Retention 2025: Delhi Capitals Women

Delhi Capitals Women have released four players, including one overseas star Laura Harris, and retained their core.

UP Warriorz have released four players and traded one player – Danni Wyatt – to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women.

Gujarat Giants have released joint most number of players (6) and two among them are shocking names – Sneh Rana and Lea Tahuhu.
