Through an America’s Best Racing initiative, “Stake in Stardom,” FOX Sports personality Joy Taylor finds herself with a small ownership stake in Kentucky Derby (G1) hopeful Jace’s Road .
With the race fast approaching, ABR caught up with Taylor to talk with her about the experience. Taylor co-hosts SPEAK, which airs weekdays on FS1, as well as the popular “Maybe I’m Crazy” podcast. She also hosts “The Joy Taylor Show” on FOX Sports Radio Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. ET.
ABR: Welcome to Thoroughbred racing. You are officially a co-owner in three racehorses (Prosper , Cagliostro , and Jace’s Road), thanks to Terry Finley and West Point Thoroughbreds. What are you looking forward to most about being a racehorse owner?
JT: I’m really looking forward to learning more about the business. It isn’t a world that we normally get access to, so to be on the ownership side is amazing.
ABR: You’ve attended big horse racing events before, but this year, your horse, Jace’s Road, is being pointed to the Kentucky Derby. What are you most looking forward to about Derby day?
JT: I am so excited for Derby day! It’s a bucket-list item to go to the Kentucky Derby and to own a horse that is on its way to running is legendary. I’m really looking forward to the whole experience.
ABR: What excites you the most about Thoroughbred horse racing?
JT: It’s a very complex and interesting business. I’m most excited about learning more about the process and, of course, a potential win!
ABR: What are some of your favorite memories from past horse races you’ve attended?
JT: The excitement of a win. The community and energy around the races. The fashion and the fun. It’s all really a one-of-a kind day.
ABR: What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned about the sport as you’ve become more involved?
JT: The most surprising thing I’ve learned is the training and care that the horses receive. It is top of the line and very intricate.
ABR: How do you connect with your followers on social media? What do you think your followers will enjoy most about your horse racing experience?
JT: I think my followers will enjoy getting a behind-the-scenes view of ownership and the events.
ABR: Where can people follow you on social media to join you on your horse racing adventures?
JT: @joytaylortalks
