Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearlings Catalog Online

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 277 entries for its California Fall Yearlings sale, to be held Sept. 24 at Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. The sale will begin at 11 a.m. PT.

“We have a strong catalog for this year’s sale, which annually offers the cream of the California-bred yearling crop,” said Fasig-Tipton California representative Mike Machowsky.  “There is a great diversity of sire power, with both leading West Coast sires and national sires represented. While this sale primarily showcases the best of the California breeding program, there are quality offerings from other state-bred programs as well.”

The Golden State program offers stakes throughout the year for nominated horses. The deadline to nominate is Feb. 15 of their 2-year-old year.

“The California yearling sale is a vital place to shop if you’re looking to race in California. Big factors are that you can run for some very lucrative purses and bonuses but you’re also still eligible to run in open races out here and even run for better purses,” said Machowsky.

This sale has been a prolific source of stakes winners over the last year.  They are led by Big City Lights , a multiple stakes winner of more than $416,000, and winner of the Palos Verdes Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita in February. Other recent stakes-winning graduates include Bus Buzz , Crazy Hot , Last Call London , Lite Ranchin Kid , Magic Spoon , Mici’s Express , Pushiness , Roberta’s Love , Tom’s Regret , and U.S. Army.

“I expect the sale to be shopped hard,” Machowsky said. “If you race here, you need to balance your stable and barn with Cal-breds. I have to hand it to the breeders here in California stepping up and buying new mares every year in foal to Kentucky stallions to add this variety to buy.

“Our yearling graduates take their owners to the winner’s circle in California’s most important races. This is a ‘can’t miss’ sale for those that participate in the California program.”

Print catalogs are now available.  The catalog may also be viewed online and via the Equineline sales catalog app.
